Begin at the begining. Stop whereever you are at the end of class.
Begin with how to logon as student, and show how to logoff each day at the end.
Mouse movement
mouse left buttons in general and to click on 'student' to login
Start->All Programs->Accessories->Paint
Menus will close causing confusion
When they can launch Paint, teach the X in the upper right to close
For now, do not save
practice launching and closing paint

Teach the eraser, paintbrush, paint bucket, filled shapes
Teach edit->undo
show the Ctrl-Z listed next to Undo

file->save to save their work into My Documents

show a hard disk
explain ram goes away without electricity and holds only a little, but is very fast
a hard disk holds much more, but is slower. It remembers even without electricity
1 letter = 1 byte
show a text report = 10,000 bytes
show a photo = 500,000 bytes
show the ram = 128,000,000 bytes
show a CD = 650,000,000 bytes
show the hard disk = 60,000,000,000 bytes
1000 = 1K
1000*1000 = 1M
1000*1000*1000 = 1G
show FOLDing a piece of paper in half
show a FOLDer
put the photo and the report into the folder
put many folders into a bigger folder
explain the hard disk as the biggest folder
many smaller folders to group related information
Most folders are for windows, to remember its programs
My Documents is your folder
teach select, cut, copy, and paste
have them draw 1 fish, and make many overlapping copies with no background overlap.
file->open your original photo
